After 14 weeks of intensive work on site, weโre pleased to have reached a major milestone at House of Sport Manchester, successfully completing Phase 1 of the project on time, with zero accidents or injuries.
The 14-week programme presented a challenging schedule, with a significant amount of work required across the facility and a high level of coordination needed to ensure everything was delivered safely and efficiently.
During Phase 1, our teams and supply chain partners delivered a substantial programme of mechanical and electrical works, including:
๐น Up to 17 MEWPs utilised to safely carry out high-level works
๐น 25 operatives working on the project, completing more than 14,000 hours
๐น 300 light fittings installed across the athletic track, squash courts and ancillary areas, with lighting controlled via DALI
๐น 74 electric radiant heaters installed
๐น Installation of new HVAC systems
๐น Purging of existing gas lines
The scale of the programme meant that careful planning and coordination were essential from the outset. With high-level works taking place across different areas of the facility, the use of multiple MEWPs and the coordination of teams working alongside one another required a strong focus on safety and communication throughout.
Reaching the end of Phase 1 on programme and with zero accidents or injuries is a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment of everyone involved. Completing more than 14,000 hours of work within such a tight 14-week critical programme demonstrates the effort and professionalism of the teams on site.
While Phase 1 represents a significant milestone, the wider project continues, and weโre looking forward to building on the progress made so far as we move into the next stage.
A huge thank you to our team, suppliers and subcontractors for their hard work, commitment and professionalism throughout Phase 1.
Special thanks to Matt Beare, Jamie Dullenty, Adam Hadgraft and Terry Biggs for their efforts and leadership on site. Their hard work has been instrumental in keeping the project moving and helping the team achieve such a strong result.
