We were proud to play a key role in the transformation of Chorlton Library, a Grade II listed building with an important place at the heart of the local community.
As the project’s mechanical and electrical contractor, our team was responsible for delivering the full M&E engineering package, carefully balancing the requirements of a modern, welcoming library with the need to preserve the character and heritage of the historic building.
Delivered over two phases, the project included the restoration and upgrade of heating, hot water, air conditioning, lighting, power and security systems. Every element had to be carefully considered to ensure the building could meet the needs of its users for years to come, while retaining the features that make it such an important local landmark.
For our team, this was about more than simply upgrading building services. It was about helping to breathe new life into an existing building, ensuring a much-loved public space could continue to serve its community well into the future.
Following a year-long programme of works, Chorlton Library proudly reopened its doors in April 2025, revealing a brighter, more inviting space, including its new entrance.
It’s a fantastic example of how thoughtful refurbishment and modern engineering can work hand in hand with heritage, giving an existing building a new lease of life without losing what makes it special.
